Music Notes

Thank you to the Chamber Choir students who performed We Will and Keep the Truth Alive at the P–2 Assembly this week. Your performance was much appreciated!

Thank you also to those who are reading the music notes and keeping up to date with performances. We have a busy term ahead, so it’s important that all choirs and ensembles know when to wear their performance uniform.

Please print out the Date Claimers, highlight the performances you are involved in, and place the sheet somewhere visible. This will help ensure you are in the correct uniform at the right time. While we do give verbal reminders, these can sometimes be forgotten—writing them down or adding them to a calendar is a helpful way to stay organised.

In Week 5, the Boys Chorus will perform their two pieces, Whisper and Travelling, at assembly. Boys will need to wear their performance uniform—white shirt, green shorts, white socks, and black leather shoes—to school on Monday, 19 May. You will meet Miss Courtice at the school hall at 8:30 a.m. for a stage rehearsal. Miss Lu will be accompanying you.

Also in Week 5, the Chamber Choir will perform their three pieces at QYMA on Monday, 19 May. Please note that there will be a change to rehearsals for this week only: Chamber Choir will rehearse on Monday morning, and Senior Choir will rehearse on Tuesday morning.

All choir members should be singing through their parts with recordings daily and must know all lyrics from memory. Memorising lyrics not only supports your performance but also builds confidence—a valuable skill that will benefit you in high school and in future professional settings.

Thomastik Orchestra will be participating in the Karawatha String Workshop on Thursday. I look forward to working with all the other students in our surrounding community and the concert in the evening. There are a lot of students participating this year.

END: Week 10	Expression of interest for 2026 Instrumental Program - Email to current 2025 Year 2 parents for interest in Strings and current 2025 Year 3 parents for interest in Band. This includes information about the Instrumental Program and how to register. N.B There is criteria and due to the size of the school and Program, only selected students will enter the Program. No communication will be entered into after, and no late replies will be taken. Recruitment for the Instrumental Program will take all of Term 3 and you will find out if you are successful at the end of the last week of Term 3.

Chamber Choir Performance at QYMA

Venue:	Sommerville House -17 Graham St, South Brisbane - Valmai Pidgeon PAC

Time:	From 5:00pm - 6:45pm (approximate) finish – arrive at 4:45pm

Transport:	Own Transport to and from the venue – parking in hospital carpark or off street.
What to Bring:	Students will need to bring a small bag with a snack and water bottle.
What to Wear:	Chamber Choir Performance Uniform – black pants, white performance shirt, black socks, black leather shoes. Hair neat with green or black ribbons (no large bows).

Thomastik Orchestra at Karawatha Junior Strings Workshop Program 2025

Venue:	Runcorn State High School - 132 Hill Road Runcorn, QLD 4113
Date:	WEEK 5 Thursday 22nd May
Time:	Arrive 8:00am-2:15pm Parents pick up at 2:15 and return to Runcorn Highshool at 5:00pm for the Gala Concert. (5:00-8:30pm) Pick up 8:30pm SHARP
Cost:	Refer to QPARENTS
Transport:	Own Transport to and from the venue.
What to Bring:	All students bring their green choir folder, pencil, water bottle, morning tea and lunch.
What to Wear:	Thomastik Orchestra Performance Uniform – green culottes/green rugger shorts, white performance shirt, white socks, black leather shoes and green school hat.

CHORAL FANFARE at Mansfield SHS.

Venue:	Mansfield State High School Cnr Broadwater Road &, Ham Rd, Mansfield QLD 4122
Date:	WEEK 6 Thurs 29^th May 2025
Time:	9:00am – 2:30pm (Students meet at the school tuckshop at 8:55, bus leaves at 9am.
Cost:	Refer to QPARENTS
Transport:	BUSC to and from the venue.
What to Bring:	Students will need to bring a small bag with morning tea, lunch and water bottle.
What to Wear:	Senior Choir and Chamber Choir Performance Uniform – black pants, white performance shirt, black socks, black leather shoes. Hair neat with green or black ribbons (no large bows). Boys Chorus – white performance shirt, green rugger shorts, white socks and black leather shoes. Junior Choir – white performance shirt, green rugger shorts or green culottes, white socks and black leather shoes. School Jacket and School hat.
