Music Notes
“It is performance ready if you can play 7 times without error. If you mess up on the 6th run through, you have to start over.”
To be truly ready to perform a piece (such as a song or instrumental part), you should be able to play it perfectly—without any mistakes—seven times in a row. If you make a mistake on any of those seven attempts, even the 6th time, you don’t just keep going—you start the count over from the beginning.
Why this method works:
- It builds consistency, not just luck.
- It ensures your performance is reliable under pressure, not just something you got right once.
- It helps you stay focused and correct small errors before they become habits.
In short:
This rule is about setting a high standard for yourself. If you can play it perfectly 7 times in a row, you’re likely to perform it well on stage—even when you’re nervous.
Junior Choir and Senior Choir PERFORMANCE ON PARADE

Thank you to Miss Lu for accompanying the Junior Choir and Senior Choir. We will be ready for Choral Fanfare this Thursday.
QYMA PEFORMANCE – Congratulations Chamber Choir on a GOLD, overall, we tied third with Robertson State School. Well done everyone!!
Thank you to Lisa Geary, Miss Courtice, Miss Lu and our parents for attending this performance. Thank you to the kind emails received, tea and sweets. It is great to have an awesome team working with great students.
It was a real privilege to perform in the beautiful venue at Somerville House and to receive adjudication from Emily Cox. Opportunities like this provide invaluable experience and inspiration for our students and me.
Bring on Choral Fanfare!!
First place - Hillcrest Christian College Poco Voce
Second place - Anglican Church Grammar School Prep Voices
Third place - Warrigal Road State School Chamber Choir AND Robertson State School Cantabile
The Harley Mead Encouragement Award was awarded to Dalby State School Senior Singers.
Thomastik Orchestra students recently had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with string students from a variety of schools across the Karawatha community.
They worked alongside peers of similar ability levels, guided by a team of skilled and inspiring conductors. This collaborative experience not only fostered musical growth but also strengthened their ensemble skills and confidence as young musicians.
Opportunities like this are invaluable in encouraging ongoing practice, dedication, and development. Thank you to Runcorn State High School for organising yet another outstanding event. The Gala Concert was a fantastic celebration of talent, teamwork, and community spirit.
I’ve received many positive comments from teachers regarding your performances at each assembly this term. These opportunities are not only a joy to share with our school community, but they also serve as valuable preparation—especially with Fanfare just around the corner. Performing regularly helps build your confidence, improves your stage presence, and sharpens your musical skills.
The more we perform, the more prepared we are—and the better we become. Keep up the great work!
