Warrigal Road Chamber Choir Hits the High Notes!
Let’s Raise Our Voices in Support!

We’re bursting with pride to announce that Warrigal Road State School’s Chamber Choir has been selected as one of just five Primary State Finalists in the prestigious 2025 Creative Generation Choral Fanfare! This biennial event is Queensland’s premier celebration of state school vocal talent — and Warrigal is taking centre stage!

Under the brilliant direction of Mrs Robyn Kelly, our Chamber Choir stood out among thousands of young performers across the state, earning their place in the State Finals alongside Queensland’s most accomplished school choirs.

They’ll be sharing the stage with:

• Benowa State School – Benowa Voices

• Eagle Junction State School – Vocal Ensemble

• Edge Hill State School – Bel Canto

• Middle Ridge State School – Middle Ridge Voices

• Warrigal Road State School – Chamber Choir

From the Secondary division, we send special congratulations to our friends at MacGregor State High School – MACapella, led by Tamara Luski, who will also represent our region at the state level.

Why it matters:
More than 9,000 students participate in Choral Fanfare every two years. Only ten choirs — five primary, five secondary — earn the honour of performing in the State Final. This achievement is a testament to our students’ dedication, talent, and love of music, and to the passion and guidance of their outstanding director, Mrs Kelly.

KQ Chess are long-time champions of student enrichment and run our after-school Chess Club right here at Warrigal Road. Their expert coaches create a fantastic atmosphere where students of all levels can learn the game, sharpen their skills, and even prepare for competitions.

NAPLAN 2025 – Celebrating Success, Supporting Every Child
Warrigal Students Outperform National Averages!

We are incredibly proud to share the results of the 2025 NAPLAN testing — and what a result it has been! Our students in Years 3 and 5 have achieved outstanding outcomes, exceeding national averages across key literacy and numeracy domains.

Here’s a snapshot of our students' Reading achievement:

✔️ Fewer students needing additional support
✔️ More students achieving at the top band ("Exceeding")
✔️ Across-the-board improvement

These results are a testament to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the support of our families. We celebrate this success together — but we also want to be clear: NAPLAN is just one piece of the puzzle. Also we want to note that the results are the same in every area assessed in NAPLAN!

At Warrigal Road State School, we believe that what matters most is individual growth. We monitor the progress of every student and tailor learning to ensure that every child improves, every year — no matter where they start.

NAPLAN provides a useful snapshot, but it does not define a student’s worth or potential. Our commitment remains steadfast: to nurture the whole child, to inspire curiosity, and to unlock brilliance in every learner.
