Fast and Furious: The Final Weeks of Term 3
As we move into the final stretch of Term 3, the pace at Warrigal Road is well and truly fast and furious! Weeks 8, 9, and 10 are jam-packed with events, activities, and special opportunities for our students.
In Week 8, we have our Father’s Day Stall, the CAPS program (year level planning for teachers), and Holt Bolt activities for our Prep and Year 1 students, as well as assemblies for the younger years. Week 9 continues the excitement with Year 1 Swimming, Holt Bolt and CAPS for Years 2, 3, 4 and 6, the Mad About Science incursion for Prep, and our R U OK? Day celebrations. Parent–Teacher interviews also begin this week. By Week 10, we round out the term with Music Immersion Day, Sports Days for Prep–Year 3, CAPS and Holt Bolt for Year 5, Parent–Teacher interviews, the ever-popular Colour Run, and a Free Dress Day to celebrate the end of term.
With so much happening, it’s important to help our children stay organised and calm. Families can support by:
-
Keeping a calendar at home – note down assemblies, swimming days, and special events so nothing is missed.
-
Preparing ahead of time – pack bags the night before with swimming gear, sports shoes, or stall money.
-
Building in rest – encourage earlier nights and quiet time to balance the busyness.
-
Talking it through – helping children know what’s coming up can reduce anxiety and give them confidence.
-
Encouraging calm – remind students that it’s normal to feel tired at the end of term, and that pacing themselves will help them finish strong.
We are so proud of the resilience our students show as they participate in such a wide variety of experiences. With the support of families, they can enjoy every moment while still feeling balanced and prepared.
Let’s keep calm and carry on right through to the final bell of Term 3!
Planning for Major School Events
Behind every major event at Warrigal Road lies months of careful planning and preparation. Our staff dedicate significant time and effort to ensure that these experiences are meaningful, safe, and memorable for our students.
One of the biggest highlights on our school calendar is the Year 6 Camp to Cairns. This incredible opportunity allows our students to snorkel on the reef, explore rainforests, and take part in a variety of hands-on learning activities. It is a truly unique experience—but also a major undertaking. In fact, the camp costs over $200,000 to run each year.
As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering what our families value most, we survey our Year 5 parents annually to ask whether they would like us to plan for the following year’s Cairns camp. This is also an important way for us to take into account cost of living pressures while ensuring we provide experiences that families see as worthwhile.
A survey will be going out soon to to all Year 5 parents. We encourage you to please complete it as soon as practically possible. Your feedback will directly inform our planning for the 2026 Year 6 Camp to Cairns and ensure that our resources are aligned with what families want.
Thank you for supporting us as we continue to provide the very best opportunities for our students.
Parent–Teacher Interviews – Book Now!
As we enter the final stretch of the 2025 school year, it’s time for our upcoming Parent–Teacher Interviews. These sessions are a valuable opportunity for families to speak directly with their child’s teacher, celebrate achievements, and discuss any concerns or areas where extra support may be needed.
Interviews will be held on:
-
Thursday 11 September
-
Tuesday 16 September
Bookings are made through SOBS (School Online Booking System). We encourage all families to secure a time as soon as possible to ensure they don’t miss out.
Parent–Teacher Interviews are not only about addressing challenges—they are also a chance to recognise the growth, progress, and successes your child has achieved this year. Open communication between home and school plays a key role in helping every student finish the year confidently and strongly.
Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s learning journey. We look forward to seeing you at interviews and working together to ensure the best outcomes for all students.
