2026 Class Placement Parent Input
At Warrigal Road State School, our current teaching team—who have worked closely with the children throughout 2025—will form the new classes for the 2026 school year. Our teachers are best placed to determine workable and balanced classroom configurations based on their professional knowledge and understanding of each child in the school context.
As parents and caregivers, you hold valuable long-term insights about your child and their learning relationships that may assist teachers during this process. While it’s not possible to accommodate every request, our staff make every effort to consider all relevant information when forming classes.
This questionnaire provides an opportunity for you to share any additional information you believe should be taken into account—particularly details that teachers may not already be aware of. Completion of this form is optional and only necessary if you have important or new information to add.
We understand the trust you place in us each day to care for and support your child, and we do not take that responsibility lightly.

Supporting Our Colleagues in the Far North
Across Queensland, schools are feeling the impact of a significant teacher shortage — one that has placed increasing pressure on schools, students, and communities, particularly in our regional and remote areas. At Warrigal Road State School, we believe in the power of community and collaboration, and we’re proud to be doing our part to help.
Next week, Ms Medeiros and Mr Duncan, will be heading up north to Bamaga to support the local community for three weeks. This initiative not only helps schools in need but also provides our staff with a unique opportunity to experience teaching in a vibrant and culturally rich part of Queensland.
Mr Duncan will be stepping into a classroom role and working closely with local students and staff. While the adventure will no doubt come with its challenges, we’re confident that Ms Medeiros will have her work cut out for her coaching Mr Duncan through the ins and outs of teaching in a very different environment!
We’re incredibly proud of their willingness to lend a hand where it’s needed most. Their contribution represents the spirit of Warrigal Road — one of service, teamwork, and commitment to education across our state.
We are looking forward to sharing our experience with you as we take on this exciting and meaningful journey.
Celebrating STEM Success!
What an incredible afternoon of creativity, curiosity, and community! Our Celebrating STEM Afternoon this week was a huge success, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make it such a memorable event.
The energy around the school was amazing as families explored the many hands-on activities on offer. It was wonderful to see students and parents working side by side—building, experimenting, and discovering together. The smiles and excitement said it all!
A special thank you goes to our Celebrating STEM Working Party for their outstanding planning and organisation, and to Janet Simpson, Courtney Minogue, Lauren Alexander, David Jones, Trevor Sutton, and Chantelle Leung (P&C) for their dedication both in the lead-up and on the day itself. Your enthusiasm and teamwork truly brought the event to life.
Special acknowledgment and credit must be extended to Mrs Geary for the leaderhsip and vision to create such as event.
Thank you once again to our wonderful parents, staff, and community for supporting this celebration of learning. Events like these highlight the power of collaboration and the incredible curiosity of our students.
